New Improved LSC Manual Launched
New Improved LSC Manual Launched
25 June 2004
The new, improved Legal Services Commission Manual is published today.
This essential resource for legal aid service providers contains all the law and guidance that underpin the Community Legal Service and the Criminal Defence Service. The Manual is produced for the LSC by TSO (The Stationery Office).
Following feedback and consultation with our partner solicitors, this updated edition of the Manual incorporates a number of significant improvements. To make it as accessible and user-friendly as possible, the Manual is available in hard copy volumes, CD-ROM and for the first time online in a searchable, web-based version.
Solicitors using the CD and web versions can now print out hard copies of specific parts of the text, for example whole sections, forms or selected commentary or legislation. The hard copy manual features clearer page numbering, improved header and footer information and much clearer indices. Updates have been reduced to twice yearly - to reduce the time spent updating the binders.
Subscription prices are now lower than in 2003 and for the web version begin at under £100.
Clare Dodgson, Chief Executive of the LSC, said: “By listening to our service delivery partners, we have been able to produce a much improved resource. Delivering quality services and value for money are priorities for all of us who share a commitment to helping legal aid clients with the problems they face. We will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure that the Manual continues to develop and keep pace with their needs.”
